How does it work?

Digicall Service uses advanced new technology to convert your voice into data that enables you to place and receive calls over your broadband connection. You simply plug a Telephone Adapter (provided FREE as part of the service) in between your computer and your 2-way Cable or DSL Modem, and plug a standard household telephone into it. You can then place and receive calls over this phone and also have access to a world of additional control functionality available to you through a Web browser. You can also access the advanced service features by calling the Phone Feature Manager to manage your personal service settings.

Please note that because this service relies on advanced technology and your broadband service, if there is a power outage or your broadband service is interrupted, this service will not work. There are also some important differences between dialing 911 from this phone versus your standard phone that you should also familiarize yourself with.

What makes Digicall unique?

Digicall Service offers a ton of advantages over current telephone services. It provides features similar to your current telephone service. This includes unlimited local and long distance calling in North America, Call Waiting, Three-Way Calling, and Caller ID. Digicall Service also provides additional features which provide control and connectedness, such as "Do Not Disturb," the ability for callers to find you wherever you are, the ability to see all inbound and outbound calls over the past sixty days, and the ability to listen to and manage voicemail via your Personal Digicall Web site. The service will not work without household power or without broadband or high-speed Internet service power.

What advanced features are offered?

Do Not Disturb - Receive calls only when you want. Forward calls to voicemail but let urgent calls ring in.

Voice Mail + eFeatures - See and hear messages via the Web or through your phone and forward voice messages to your e-mail account. E-mail tells you when you have a message. Forward voicemail as an e-mail attachment.

Call Logs - View a list of calls you placed and received and click on any number to automatically dial, just like on your wireless phone.

Phone Feature Manager - Phone in to access Digicall Service even when you don't have access to the Web. Follow prompts to make outbound calls or access Voice Mail + eFeatures, Locate Me, Speed Dial, and Do Not Disturb.

Follow Me - Set your service so callers can find you at other numbers when you're not at your phone. Choose several locations and have them ring either one at a time or all at once.

Speed Dial - Set up single-digit shortcuts for the numbers you call the most - just like on your cell phone.

What kind of Internet connection do I need?

You need an Internet connection via cable modem (2-way cable) or DSL with at least 30 Kbps upstream and downstream speed. If you don't know the speed of your service, please refer to the Internet service agreement. Click Here to check your broadband connection. This service will work with any service provider that meets the requirements stated above.

What happens if I change my Internet service provider?

If you change your broadband provider or service location then you should follow the setup instructions provided to you with the Telephone Adapter (ATA) to reconfigure it to the new connection.

Does Digicall work with any DSL or cable connection?

Digicall will work on most broadband DSL or 2-way cable modem connections. The downstream and upstream bandwidth is very important. The upstream bandwidth must be a minimum of 30 Kbps per phone call. Additional data traffic on the upstream or downstream during a call can affect the voice quality. This service does not work on dial-up connections.

What happens to my service if my ISP goes down?

Digicall  requires that your broadband computer connection be up and running in order to function. If your broadband connection is experiencing a temporary outage, your service will not work during this outage, and you will not be able to make or receive calls, including 911 Emergency Dialing calls.
